GHA HOLDS HEALTH WALK AND FUN GAMES AS PART OF 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), on Saturday, August 14, 2024 held a fun-filled games and health walk starting from the Aviation Social Center. The event formed part of the Authority’s anniversary celebration themed, “Development and Maintenance of Quality Highways: Retrospect and Prospects.”

The event began with a health walk through the principal streets of Accra and back to the Aviation Social Center for the aerobics and fun games. The Chief Executive of the Authority, Ing. Collins Donkor, joined the Dy. C.E (Admin) and Chairman of the GHA @ 50 Planning Committee, Ing. Samual Akuaku, Dy. C.E (Mtce), Ing. L.L. Lamptey, the Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Vivian Ghansah, the Director  of Training and Development, Mrs. Joyce Agbeka, the Director of Finance, Mr. Eric O. Amanfo, the Ag. Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Cecil Wentum and the Chief Auditor, Mrs. Yayra S. Konu along with other members of staff in the walk.

Speaking at the event, Ing. Collins Donkor highlighted GHA’s achievements over the past five (5) decades and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to infrastructure development and employee welfare.

The games featured competitive acts which included soccer, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, arm wrestling, tug of war, ludu, cards playing and Chief Executive’s challenge with Directors. The rest were lime and spoon, sack race and draught.

Adding his remarks, Ing. Samual Akuako expressed his gratitude to staff for turning out in their numbers and further urged them to attend the rest of the events tabled for the 50th anniversary celebration.

Giving his solidarity message, the Board Chair of GHA, Ing. I.K Mensah, assured members of staff to remain calm as the National Road Authority Act passed by Parliament of Ghana to merge all the agencies under MRH, would be spearheaded by the Ghana Highway Authority. “ GHA will lead the army in the whole change to National Roads Authority”, he said.

The well attended event brought together management and staff of GHA, and invited colleagues from the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH), Urban roads and Feeder roads.

The fun-filled event ended with patrons expressing joy and contentment.
