The Volta Region is poised to become the first in the country to deliver a fully completed road project under Government's Big Push Infrastructure program, with several other works across the region already at an advance stage.

Speaking during President John Mahama's inspection of road projects in the Volta Region as part of his ongoing Resetting Ghana tour, Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza disclosed that the rehabilitation of the Penyi–Denu Road has reached 75.68% completion, while works on the Kpetoe–Ave Afiadenyigba Road (Lot 7) stand at 45% complete.

President Mahama, touring the sites firsthand, commended contractors for keeping pace with project delivery and in some cases exceeding planned progress. He noted that approximately 2,500 kilometers of roads are currently under construction nationwide as part of the Big Push program and expressed satisfaction with the overall momentum of the works.

On funding, the President confirmed that the government allocated more than GH¢13 billion in the program's initial phase, with a further GH¢30.8 billion committed this year, bringing total investment in the Big Push to over GH¢40 billion.

The progress recorded in the Volta Region reflects close supervision by the Ghana Highway Authority's regional team, led by Ing Faustina Oppong-Yeboah whose oversight of contractors and project timelines has helped keep works on schedule despite the terrain and seasonal challenges common to parts of the region. Achieving this standard requires firm hands-on supervision, technical rigor, and constant engagement with contractors and communities alike.
