PRESIDENT MAHAMA CUTS SOD FOR WENCHI-SAWLA-WA HIGHWAY RECONSTRUCTION

On Wednesday, 5th November 2025, the people of Sawla witnessed a memorable moment of progress and   renewed hope, as H.E. John Dramani Mahama, in the company of the Minister of Roads and Highways, the Deputy Minister and officials from the Ministry and its agencies visited the community to officially cut the sod for the commencement of a major development project on the Wenchi-Sawla-Wa road. The atmosphere was vibrant, exciting, and full of expectation.

The Significance of the Project

The project, once completed, is expected to:

  • Improve access to vital services including healthcare, markets, and education
  • Boost local economic activities and trade
  • Create jobs, especially for the youth
  • Enhance movement between Wenchi- Sawla -Bole- Wa and neighboring towns

In his speech, President Mahama assured the people of a timely completion of the project. “We want to ensure that projects like this are completed on time and benefit the people directly,” he noted.
Residents also shared heartfelt reactions, noting how much easier travel and business will become, while youth groups highlighted the importance of job opportunities tied to the construction and operation phases.

For many in the community, this was not just a ceremonial visit — it was a moment of assurance that the development needs of the communities along that corridor are being acknowledged and prioritized.

The community looked forward to monitoring progress and supporting the successful execution of the project.

The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months, although contractors have pledged to finish ahead of time.
